Seems like Marathi movies are stealing the thunder – but on prime-time TV debates and not where the Maharashtra government would have loved them to.
What sparked the debate was the govt.’s order to all multiplex theaters in Mumbai to compulsory screen a Marathi movie on one screen between 6-9 pm – cinema’s prime time. Oh! Of course, opinions, predictably, varied!
Now, it’s good to see they are promoting Marathi cinema, but we wanna know whether the Maharashtra government will then subsidise tickets and make it affordable for a middle-class Maharashtrian to watch a movie, say an Inox?
Requesting multiplexes for prime time slot for Marathi movies is one thing, but don’t you think giving orders like this leaves a bad taste? What do you think of government’s decision? Let us know in the comments!  Show less
