On 30 March, Jassi, a small cable operator of Punjab gave up his fight against the system implementing mandatory digitisation in the country, forcing all LCOs to work as slaves of large companies. Jassi committed suicide, consuming poison infront of a Judge's Panel in the TDSAT Seminar held at Amritsar on 28 March, explaining to the judges, the plight of thousands of cable operators who are being armtwisted and exploited by the Fastway MSO, which is politically linked with the ruling Akali Dal Party and has a total monopoly in the state.
