Sachin, who on Saturday dedicated his Bharat Ratna to his mother Rajni, went a step further by dedicating the award to all mothers in India.

"Yesterday, I said this award is for my mother, for all the sacrifices she has made for me. Today I dedicate this award to mothers all across India," he said at a press conference in Mumbai on Sunday.

"There are millions and millions of mothers in India who sacrifice many things for their children. I would like to share my award with them." (Highlights from press conference)

Sachin added that he was humbled and honoured to receive the Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian honour. He also congratulated fellow recipient Prof CNR Rao. "I would like to congratulate Prof CNR Rao for getting the Bharat Ratna. It is an honour to get the award with him, his contribution to the field of science is immense.
